Then simply answer some important questions about your medical problem.
The doctor uses this information to understand the issue and formulate a diagnosis. Expect a call from the doctor, usually within a few hours.
Following this assessment the doctor will issue the most appropriate medication for your problem. The doctor will also SMS or email important health management information to help. Remember, getting better is not just about medication, our doctor’s think about your problem holistically and have your overall best health in mind.
Any scripts will be issued electronically via SMS. Usually, you will have your script within minutes (for orders placed 8am to 8pm AEST, 7 days) or they will be issued when Medmate Telehealth opens the next morning.
What type of medication will the doctor prescribe?
The doctor will review all the information in your online consult and call you to gather further information. The doctor uses this assessment to formulate the best treatment plan.
If medications are clinically indicated, the doctor will prescribe the most appropriate medication for that problem.
Our doctors use evidence based Australian Therapeutic Guidelines to guide their medication choice. It’s important to remember, that medications are not always the answer. The doctor will provide home care advice that may not involve the use of medications such as antibiotics.
What medications can't be ordered online?
Medmate doctors may not prescribe controlled substances, narcotics or opioids or any controlled and monitored drugs and medications requiring close monitoring by a doctor. Our doctors reserve the right to decline prescribing any medication or refusing to provide Medical Certificates, based on their professional medical advice.
Can Medmate coordinate followup care with my regular GP?
Yes absolutely, this is strongly advised and encouraged.
You will receive an email following the express consult. This will include our doctor’s advice about the management of your current problem. You can discuss this plan with your GP when you see them.
We are also able to forward a copy of the doctor’s treatment notes to your regular GP if you consent and provide us their details. When you complete the online request form, please fill in the details of your regular medical clinic. Notes will be forwarded to your GP usually within 48 hours.
